New StavRate League and Cup Format

League StavRate

Some of you may have already noticed the updated StavRate League rules. What are the reasons for these changes?

As you could see, we actively attract new players from different countries of the world to our tournament. With the growth of the number of players, the previously discussed problem with the scaling of the League becomes relevant. In this regard, we, after long discussions and consideration of several possible options, have developed and presented a new competition format in this section, which can work with both 500 forecasters and 1,000 or 10,000 players.

Main points of the updated format:

  • There will be 12 players in each group, and the season will be held in 11 rounds. Thus, for 1 football season, we will hold 3 seasons of the StavRate League (as we already hold the Cup).
  • The league will still have several different levels, but they will be slightly different: Super League, Leagues 1-5 and Qualifying League.
  • At each of the levels, competitions will be held in parallel subgroups.
  • The winners of the last season of League 1 + the winners of the last Super League will compete in the Super League. The Super League will be available to the winners of League 1 from the second season.
  • There will be 4 players from the Leagues to be promoted/relegated (the best 4 to be promoted, the worst 4 to be relegated). From League 5, the best 6 players will advance, no one is relegated.
  • To get into the new League 5, it is enough to spend 5 days out of the last 7 on the project or have a subscription (that is, the player already knows what Stavrate is and regularly uses it).
  • Unifying for all players of the League will be League Stavrate Rating
  • Group distribution will be based on the places occupied in the previous season (1st player — in League 1A, 2nd player — in League 1B, etc.).

The main advantages of the new format:

  • Scalable to any number of players.
  • Dynamics — to win an award or move up in class now takes 3 months, instead of a whole year.
  • Easier path for new players to higher levels. In the previous format, it was really very difficult to get out of League 5, and again, it took a whole year to try…

Everything else remains the same: the best football matches every weekend; 1 on 1 game against a specified opponent; the best prognosticators at the end of the season are promoted, and the less fortunate players are demoted. But lost positions can be regained in just 3 months.

You can read the new format in more detail in the section rules.

StavRate Cup

The Cup needed similar changes, all for the same reasons. 3 seasons in one football year were introduced a little earlier, the problem with scaling remained to be solved.

Main points of the updated format:

  • From the new season, the StavRate Cup will also be held in several parallel grids, and all game weeks will run parallel to the StavRate League.
  • The maximum early stage of the Cup will be 1/32, and all confrontations, except for the final, will take place in 2 meetings.
  • All players applying for the Cup will be allocated to different grids based on “applied” tour.
  • As in the League, the unifying for all players in the Cup will be a single rating.
  • The winners of each Cup will advance to the Super Bowl for the following season.

The main advantages of the new format:

  • Again, scalable to any number of players.
  • More people will be able to compete for awards and will be involved in the game for a significant part of the football year. Otherwise, with the growth of the number of players, it would be necessary to significantly increase the number of rounds and return to one draw per year, and with each new stage, half of the remaining players would be eliminated.

This season will also be a test for us, so we hope that you will meet these changes with research enthusiasm!

Good predictions to all!
